Inspired by Iceland.

Welcome to Tanithtopia, where art and nature converge. These Iceland-inspired oil paintings explore movement, atmosphere, and energy through impasto expressionism—built in layered texture and light, not to depict what is seen, but to reveal the magic hidden beneath the surface.

About The Artist

Tanith (tay-nith) is a Portland-based artist and designer inspired by Iceland and its dramatic contrasts. After traveling to Reykjavik in 2017, upon returning home, she picked up a palette knife and took her creativity to the canvas to create her signature abstract landscapes as a love story to her favorite country.

Tanith’s painting technique echoes her experience as a ceramic sculptural artist. Her Icelandic series—with its use of underpainting, bold brush strokes, heavy textures and iridescent gold detailing—explores how structural depth can be explored on canvas.

Fascinated by the space between real and abstract within still environments, she works with high-density oils to study how motion happens between layers to capture the emotion and beauty of Iceland’s otherworldly landscape.

Her background in visual arts from Platt College of Design, along with studies in innovation and entrepreneurship at Stanford University, informs her intuitive yet highly compositional approach to art.
